Bench Strop

This strop will replace the short little slipstrop I've been using. Construction couldn't have been more simple. I made it from basswood, scrap leather, and superglue. I did a little abstract carving on top just for fun, and added a leather braid. I'm using Flexcut polishing compound on the leather.

This should help keep my blades shaving sharp!

  1. Nifty! I've been using cork-backed paper for stropping (with compound), but that one is coming apart. I want to try compact (book-making) cardboard next. I think it will be even better. But I need to glue it to a board like yours. I like the carving at the top.

  2. Thanks for the kind words! This strop is really working out well. With regular stropping on a decent-sized strop, I don't need to take the stones out so often. Let me know how the cardboard work out, as I'm always looking for tips and tricks!
